Tom Chang- "Tongue and Groove"

Tom Chang’s debut release “Tongue and Groove” is on the Raw Toast Record label and will be released this June!

Tom’s record features Greg Ward on alto saxophone, Jason Rigby on tenor saxophone, Chris Lightcap on bass. Also featured are Subash Chandran on konnakol and Akshay Anantapadmanabhan on kanjira and mridangam.

I want to congratulate Tom on an incredible work of art. It’s already poised to be reviewed by lots of great publications including, Downbeat and The Wire. Also, it’s getting a feature spot on NPR’s All Things Considered so you will be hearing a lot about it. And dig the great artwork by Steve Dibenedetto!

The record release concert is Saturday June 7th at Cornelia st Cafe- 29 Cornelia St in the West Village NYC. See you there.

6/14- The debut album from Tom Chang will be released on the Raw Toast Records label! Exact date coming soon.

4/26/14- I’ll be taking part in the second annual Queens jazz Festival at Flushing town hall. The group, spearheaded by Trumpeter Josh Deutsch is a collective group featuring compositions by all members- Josh, Sam Sadigursky on Sax/Clarinet, Danny Fox on piano and Alex Wyatt on Drums and myself. 6:30pm-7:30pm

4/17/14- Watersign returns to Cornelia St. Cafe- 2 sets of music composed by myself and Tom Chang. Featuring Greg Ward on alto and Kenneth Salters on Drums.

4/13/14- Tom Chang is our featured guest at Dominies! Also featuring Greg Ward on Alto and Tom’s great music. 10pm-Mid

4/6/14- Chad Lefkowitz-Brown is our Guest at Dominies Astoria! Chad is an incredible talent. Don’t miss him! 10pm-Mid

3/9/14- Saxophonist Michael Blake is our guest at Dominies Astoria! 10pm-Mid

7/28/13- I’ll be taking the night off from Dominies to play w/ Amanda Monaco in the co-led group Playdate at Cornelia st. Cafe. A great band featuring Noah Baerman on piano, Joel Frahm on Tenor and Vinnie Sperazza on Drums.

7/14/13- Our series at Dominie’s in Astoria is going strong! Tonight the incredible Greg Ward will join us on alto. Coming up- Jon Irabagon will be back as well as the great Bill McHenry. Looking forward to that!

4/11/13- The collaborative Water Sign returns to Cornelia st. Cafe. Compositions by Tom Chang, Greg Ward and myself. 2 sets at 8:30 and 10pm. $20 includes a drink!

3/24/13- Rich Perry joins our trio once again at Dominies in Astoria! See you there!

2/10/13- Our special guest concert series continues at Dominies in Astoria! This week our trio will be joined by the great Jon Irabagon on tenor saxophone. Stop by! No Cover!

Starting in February I will be playing w/ guitarist Amanda Monaco and drummer Vinnie Sperazza at Domaine wine bar in Long Island City on the first Saturday of every month. Please come by and have some Vino!

7/25/12- The debut of a new group, Water Sign, at Cornelia St. w/ Guitarist Tom Chang, Drummer, Ken Saulters and Tenor Saxophonist Quinson Nachoff.  Lots of new music! 8:30pm-11:00pm
